The entire atmosphere of the lab changes with the PI

The mood of the lab depends on PI's character very strongly. If you have a fun, responsible, cheerful PI, then you are a very lucky researcher. It is great to work in such an environment. 

I don't want to make a sentence about the opposite character but as you can imagine, unfortunately it will be very tough to survive and work.

Postdocs: Are they post post graduate students?

Don't treat postdocs like students.  They are trainee but they are not graduate student anymore!

It is tough to leave the lab!

While you are graduating, it may be tough to leave the lab..."sometimes".
