The (never-ending) grant cycle
"The (never-ending) grant cycle" was first published at PLoS BLOGS
I also would like to thank to Dr. Padbury for the cartoon idea.I usually post my cartoons that were published at PLoS BLOGS after a week or two. In this cartoon also I wasn't planning to publish exactly today. But it was a nice coincidence that yesterday I learned my grant application was awarded and now I am officially a PI too.
It is a good feeling that a project that you are going to be leading is granted.
Anyways...so what I am saying is this cartoon goes very well with the recent developments.
Keep working, keep drawing and keep having fun as much as it gets.

Lost in data
Data accumulation is huge, pace is fast. Latest technological developments enable scientists to do the research in a wider window. But at the same time in this chaotic times, it is possible to be lost in data, lost focus,..etc.
By the way try the new tool that I developed "MOODS". While working in this huge jungle, how do you feel? Map your moods on the Biocomicals MOODS Map,...don't hesitate. :) You can send your mood from this link, it takes 4-7 seconds only. :)

Today, I'm releasing Biocomicals MOODS. This tool will indicate the level of happiness in the scientific community all over the world. Simply enter your mood with related information such as position, age, gender, institution. Everything is anonymous, no worries!
You can reach the site from this link
By the way this release is the beta version (beta ver 0.1). It will be updated with more features and more fun soon

Rare variants: it is tough to find them.
Rare variants are more likely to be disease related than are common variants and it is not easy to identify them. It is a challenging process...

PLoS Computational Biology’s 2011 T-shirt Design
I am not posting a cartoon this time.
The illustration above is the winner of PLoS Computational Biology's 2011 T-shirt Design contest.
My design won this year's contest. I am happy to announce it from here as well, more info is on PLoS.

Never stay in the lab all alone...at night
"Late night labwork" was first published at PLoS BLOGS
Sometimes experiments may go for long hours, but never stay in the lab all alone at night. Simply, it is not a good idea to work at night. If you do, then this may happen! Especially grad students are vulnerable to that kind of questions as Superman is vulnerable to the radiation of Kryptonite .
